spring cleaning your website

Posted on March 16, 2019 in Live Chat Software

Spring is here with all the joy of fresh breezes and open windows.  If you are like my family, we take some extra time to freshen up our home with extra cleaning. Beyond regular scrubbing, everything could do with a little extra attention while we have an extra hour of daylight and some more energy in our step.

This is also a great time of year to give your website a much needed sprucing up. Cleaning a house involves the same principals as cleaning a website.  You remove old items, organize the things you want to keep and add new things to freshen it up.

Much of spring cleaning is decluttering and organizing- in essence, simplifying.

The most important item to pay attention to on your website is how your website visitor interacts, engages and communicates with you. Communication is the key in your personal and professional life, and your website should reflect how much your business values it.

Clearing Communication Confusion

Over time, your site grows with email in one place, FAQs on another, live chat elsewhere, and navigation options for communication can get messy and confusing. With so many choices it becomes harder for people to make a decision, and your website should be the opposite. Your end users are different in their purchasing cycle stage, and they have different preferences on how to find the information they want.

Keeping options in one nice and clean area for them clears up any confusion while presenting them with the specific information they need, with options for their personal preference.

12 Communication Tools

We developed our 12 powerful engagement tools specifically for clearing up communication confusion.  Researching metrics on website engagement gave us at Birdseed the glimmer of a business concept to create engagement tools with various design and function formats.  After some trial and error, more research, and various designs, we arrived at 12 specific communication tools that people want.

Now we understand that not every tool is wanted by every person or frankly, by your business. So the tools you present are completely customizable by you. However, once you decide to show a couple, some or all of them to your web visitors they are now presented in a clean, simple, decluttered way. You can also customize the color, messaging and more if you chjoose to match your own brand. All this is done with integrating one line of code into your site. No code bloat that slows down your site and decreases SEO and user experience. So a button is created that the user clicks to open a menu bar that allows them to access them ALL and the website user can then choose which one (or ones) they want to use. No needless searching. No complex routing to find something.

To me, and many dads like me- this is the same feeling when I open my toolchest and I can find whatever I need immediately since it is organized so nicely.

Although live chat is our most popular tool, here is the entire list and what they do. (Here is a great article by Customer Think about why live chat is so popular.

1) Knowledge Library

Some visitors know what they are looking for, and others want to learn more. Having a knowledge library provides a way for them to immediately access information about your business. You can even add video responses they can watch to answer their most pressing questions.

2) Call Request

Your visitors may not want to wait on hold for help and are not able to stay on your site. This option lets them leave a callback phone number for you to call back at an agreed upon time.

3) Showcase

By creating a series of videos about your product or service, you are essentially providing an on-demand webinar or immediate visual assistance. This is a notably important delivery system for those who are visual learners.

4) Live Chat

Enabling a live texting chat with your visitors provides a familiar way for them to get answers to questions immediately. Plus, with our true live chat, you can send videos to them in real time on subjects they may find helpful.

5) Link Launcher

Our link launcher will help your client quickly locate other areas of your website, especially your engagement tools. In the past, a visitor could search for a site map, and find the area of the website they wanted.  That method is cumbersome and slow.  The idea is to engage your visitor quickly, and disseminate as much information about your business as possible, quickly.

6) Phone Contact

When a visitor needs a live person on the phone, the phone contact tool gets them the right service area, immediately. Better than listing a generic phone number within a wall of text, this tool gets them in contact with the right person directly.

7) Client Testimonials

Establishing your company’s credibility with real comments from customers rapidly communicates your reliability. In today’s fast-paced world, it is becoming harder for your business to communicate your strengths.  Client testimonials are a fast and easy way to affirm your trustworthiness

8) Schedule Meeting

Not everyone needs to contact you instantly. Sometimes your visitor wants to contact your business, but needs to circle back with you at a later date.  The meeting scheduler tool lets them schedule a meeting with you based the availability of both parties. Also, if you are a business or service with set times to meet you can use this tool to schedule these as well.

9) Timelines

Quickly impart recent business news, or new products using a timeline. This is a visual roadmap to the great work your business is doing, with the added bonus of imparting multiple additional products and services to your client.

10) Email Capture

Future communication with your clients depends on accurate contact information. Offering something of value, a discount or free product in exchange for an email ensures you can continue to communicate in the future.

11) Feedback

One of the most valuable ways to start a conversation is by asking for feedback. The information you receive provides a path to correcting issues while retaining the ability to retain and strengthen the relationship with your customer.

12)  Contact Form

The classic website contact form is one most visitors are familiar with. By providing them a form, they can leave as much information as they want.  Your business has time to circle back with them at a later date.

If you are a restaurant, you need to have your menu organized so your patrons can more easily choose their meal. no matter what kind of business you are in or service you provide this concept holds true.  Organize options together, in one uncluttered space, thereby showing the potential clients you care about their needs and want to enhance their experience.

Each of these tools should be on one page, with bright, visual indicators. Using our system, each is also mobile friendly and easy to navigate.

It shouldn’t take long, and the result will be a site that’s faster, easier to use, and facilitates a personal connection. Before you know it, you will find your website to be sparkling clean, and looking like your business is a well organized, and smoothly run the trustworthy company.
