What is Website Engagement?

We live in an amazing time, technically speaking.  Almost all the world’s information is at our fingertips. However, this same technology that was supposed to make our life easier, has often had a simultaneous effect of increasing other’s expectations of what can or should be done by a business. This runs the gamut from answering questions, to checking out, to scheduling something, to shipping and more. In this blog, we will focus on one challenge that has become prevalent- website engagement. What do we mean by website engagement?

Website engagement (or customer engagement) is the ability for an online visitor to connect with a business. Historically, this was done face to face. Then by phone. Next came email. And then came websites with knowledge libraries and FAQS and more. And then smartphones changed the game again. Live chats, online meeting schedules and so much more were being crammed into this one little area.

So, web properties became more and more complex in order to handle the many different communication methods that a web visitor might want to choose from.

Here is a test. Ask any of your friends or family if they would call or text someone if they wanted to know something important. You will find that statistically, most older people prefer talking and the younger digital generation prefers texting.
